Angiogram is a test to visualize arteries.
In cardiology context coronary angiogram is a catheter test for diagnosis of chest pain/angina carried out under local anaesthetic via an artery in wrist or groin. A special dye is injected into coronary arteries that supply heart muscle with blood and oxygen. The pictures are obtained with a special X-ray camera and can show coronary artery disease (narrowings or blockages in coronary arteries). Depending on the result, the treatment can be medication alone or in combination with stent (PCI) or surgery (CABG).
