Is clubfoot a congenital birth defect? If I have children, is there a risk that they will have this problem?

Approximately 1 in 1000 live births may exhibit signs of Club foot. The inheritance pattern is thought to be multifactorial. Recent research suggests there may be specific genes indicated. Practically, just because a parent had the condition does not gaurantee a child will, but may make it more likely. Using the Ponseti casting technique, it is a very treatable condition and the results have been much improved.
