Dr Helen Cox has extensive experience in treating children with a wide range of allergic diseases. She primarily assesses children with suspected allergies to food and inhalant allergens, many of whom will have eczema, asthma or hayfever. In addition she sees children with allergies to drugs and insect stings and various types of urticaria. A whole system approach is adopted when assessing each patient. Skin testing, lung function testing and dietetic advice is provided on site. growth and nutrition. Management will include advice on specific allergen avoidance (aeroallergens and foods), advice on the use of topical skin, nose and eye treatments and training in the use of asthma devices and drugs for anaphylaxis.
Facilities are available for in-patient food and drug challenge testing.
An immunotherapy service is also due to be offered in the near future.
