  • Question about Phlebotomy

What is the best site for drawing bloods?

There is no one best site to take blood. However usually it is taken from the antecubital fossa ie at the elbow. Sometimes the forearm or back of the hand is used. Using a butterfly needle can sometimes make it less painful.

  • Ten years ago I started getting heart flutters or skipped beats. They stopped for a few years and over the past 2 weeks started again. Back then I seen a cardiologist who said they were PVC. But now they have been accompanied with left shoulder pain. Feeling concerned and anxious about it. Should I be worried?

It would be worth seeing your GP to discuss the left shoulder pain. Also if the palpitations continue again I would discuss this with your GP to see if you needed an onward referral to see a cardiologist
