Usage of Celebrex
Indications: Symptomatic relief in the treatment of osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis
Contra Indications: In pregnancy and women of childbearing potential unless using an effective method of contraception. Breastfeeding. Hypersensitivity to the active substance or any of the excipients. Known sulphonamide hypersensitivity. Patients who have experienced asthma, acute rhinitis,
nasal polyps, angioneurotic oedema, urticaria or other allergic-type reactions after taking acetylsalicylic acid or NSAIDs. Active peptic ulceration or
gastrointestinal bleeding. Inflammatory bowel disease. Severe congestive heart failure. Severe hepatic disease (serum albumin <25g/L or Child- Pugh >10). Estimated
creatinine clearance <30mL/minute

Special precautions Celebrex
History of gastrointestinal disease. History of cardiac failure, left ventricular dysfunction or hypertension and in pre-existing oedema from any other cause. Women using the oral contraceptive pill should be advised to use an alternative Celecoxib may mask fever
Adverse and side effects Celebrex
Commonly, peripheral oedema/fluid retention, abdominal pain, diarhoea, dyspepsia, flatulence, dizziness, insomnia, pharyngitis, rhinitis, sinusitis, upper respiratory tract infection, rash. Uncommonly, anaemia, hypertension, palpitations, constipation, eructation, gastritis, stomatitis, vomiting, abnormal hepatic function, increased SGOT and SGPT, abnormal renal function tests, blurred vision, hypertonia, paraesthesia, anxiety, depression, coughing, dyspnoea, urticaria, leg cramps, tinnitus, tiredness, urinary tract infection. Rarely, leucopenia, thrombocytopenia, duodenal, gastric and oesophageal ulceration, dysphagia, intestinal perforation, oesophagitis, melaena, ataxia, alopecia, photosensitivity, taste alteration
