Usage of Cardicor

Indications: Treatment of stable chronic moderate to severe heart failure with reduced systolic ventricular function (ejection fraction <35 per cent, based on echocardiography) in addition to ACE inhibitors, and diuretics, and optionally cardiac glycosides. glycosides
Contra Indications: Chronic heart failure patients with acute heart failure or during episodes of heart failure decompensation requiring intravenous inotropic therapy, cardiogenic shock, AV block of second or third degree (without a pacemaker), sick sinus syndrome, sinoatrial block, bradycardia with less than 60 beats per minute before the start of therapy, hypotension (systolic blood pressure less than 100mmHg) , severe bronchial asthma or severe COPD, late stages of peripheral arterial occlusive disease and Raynaud's syndrome, untreated phaeochromocytoma, metabolic acidosis, hypersensitivity to bisoprolol or any of the excipients

Drug description: 1.25mg, off-white, round tablets; 2.5mg, off-white, heart-shaped, scored tablets; 3.75mg, white- yellow, heart-shaped, scored tablets; 5mg, light yellow, heart-shaped, scored tablets; 7.5mg, yellow, heart-shaped, scored tablets; 10mg, light orange, heart-shaped, scored tablets. All tablets are film- coated
Generic name: Bisoprolol

Special precautions Cardicor

Bronchospasm (bronchial asthma, obstructive airways diseases). Concomitant treatment with inhalation anaesthetics. Diabetes mellitus. Strict fasting. Ongoing desensitisation therapy. AV block of first degree. Prinzmetal's angina. Peripheral arterial occlusive disease. No therapeutic experience of bisoprolol treatment in heart failure in patients with the following diseases and conditions: NYHA class II heart failure; insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (type I); impaired renal function; impaired than 80 years; restrictive cardiomyopathy; congenital heart disease; haemodynamically significant organic valvular disease; myocardial infarction within three months. May increase both the sensitivity towards allergens and the severity of anaphylactic reactions. Patients with psoriasis or with a history of psoriasis. Phaeochromocytoma - bisoprolol must not be administered until after alpha- receptor blockade. May mask symptoms of a thyrotoxicosis. Avoid abrupt cessation. Pregnancy and lactation

Adverse and side effects Cardicor

Most commonly, feeling of coldness or numbness in the extremities, tiredness, exhaustion, dizziness, headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation. Less commonly, muscular weakness and cramps, bradycardia, AV-stimulus disturbances, worsening of heart failure, orthostatic hypotension, sleep disturbances, depression, bronchospasm in patients with bronchial asthma or a history of obstructive airways disease
