Question about Advanced cataract surgery"my cataracts are congenital but I have an incomplete iris, looks black shape of a wedge both eyes. (coloured ring of eye) can I have cataract lens implant?"
Yes you can.
A couple of issues.
If we put an ordinary lens into the eye then you may get a lot of glare from the edge of the lens as our artificial lens is smaller than the normal lens in your eye. We do have clever lenses with artificial irises incorporated in them that can sort this problem out.
The other issue would relate to the surgery as often there is a weakness in support for the lens in the area where your iris is missing.
If your cataracts are congenital and they are not causing you bother I would suggest leaving them.
Sometimes discretion is the better part of valour.
