It is a very individual process. I performed an abdominoplasty and breast reduction on a 68 year lady last week, no drains, went home the day after and who is back to almost normal activity 10 days later and able to drive with normal posture. I have other patients that have struggle to gain normal posture by 2 weeks who are much younger. At the end of the day it depends on how fit and well you are to start, what is being done and how you recover from operations. For patients who are anxious it is best to talk to previous patients and maybe you should ask your surgeon to put you in touch with previous patients so that you can get more of an idea first hand.

Blepharoplasty can be performed under local anaesthetic or general anaesthetic. Upper blepharoplasty and minimally invasive lower blepharoplasty can be performed under local. More aggressive lower blepharoplasty often is best under general anaesthetic. It is worth a consultation to go through the pros and cons of each method and allow you to make an informed decision as to which is the best method for you.

Sensation to the nipple can be affected although it depends on the amount of reduction and the amount the nipple needs to be lifted. It is extremely rare where the blood supply to the nipple and areola is left intact for there to be a loss of sensitivity. There is often a change but it is rare for patients undergoing breast reduction to complain of permanent sensory loss. If you need a free nipple areola graft for the reduction (in severe cases) then the amount of sensory return is unpredictable.
